Iliopsoas abscess (IPA) is a collection of pus in the iliopsoas muscle.It is rare and usually presents with vague symptoms.IPA can be either primary or secondary.An IPA was diagnosed by computed tomography (CT) in a CLO LIGHTLY LEM 64-year-old male with diabetes mellitus and chronic kidney disease (CKD) who presented with a limp.Pus specimen from IPA yielded non-lactose fermenting Escherichia coli which is rarely isolated from IPA.
The isolate was sensitive to meropenem and treated with intravenous meropenem for 4 weeks.Source control was Trail Mix achieved by ultrasound scan-guided aspiration of the abscess.
